What is the Yellow Glasses Project?

The Yellow Glasses Project is a program designed to help shine a light on literacy. When you buy, wear and share your $2 yellow sunglasses from participating Dollar General stores, you can help the Dollar General Literacy Foundation build awareness and support students as they create brighter futures.

Why literacy?

Literacy is the cornerstone on which learning, communication and innovation are built. It has the ability to help unlock potential and bring dreams to life.

Why did Dollar General get involved?

Dollar General’s co-founder, J.L. Turner, worked hard to build his business despite being functionally illiterate. In his honor, the Dollar General Literacy Foundation was created to help ensure that individuals of all ages have the opportunity to strengthen their education and pursue their dreams.
